Ivan's landfall this time around?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

SW La. seems quite possible though.

Not trying to be a smart@ss but 90W is hardly Central LA. Thats Southeast LA.

Ok, almost wasn't the correct word to use. My bad. (approaching maybe?) I'm just saying that it would have to take a quick NNW turn in order to hit central Lousiana. That's not predicted but to be honest, I don't think anything would really surprise me this year.

Remember if it hits Galveston, Texas worst of the weather will be from Baton Rouge to Lake Charles. If it hits Lake Charles, Lafayette to Baton Rouge.

But as a TS, doesn't that whole NE quadrant thing not apply as strongly?

Depends on the system. This one however most of all the convection is on the north to ne side of it.

BTW i am going with a TX/LA line (Or close to) landfall.

Yeah, but we also have Opera Ghost who admits to being a 'cane repellent. :)

I suppose surfing is okay. Never been myself. Check out the webcams:

well Houston then!

j/k...Port Arthur seems logical, or just across the border in SW La. (Vinton area)

Having some pretty good rains this morning and gusty winds. Very dark sky. Should be all that we get out of Ivan. The rains are welcomed

I never thought I'd get caught blindsided. It sounds as if it's headed right at me. I live in Orange, which is on the Sabine River just north of Sabine Lake.

This Ivan phoenix story is just a footnote and I really don't mind if it hits here at this strength.

If a major storm were to hit, High Island landfall would be the worst place for most of SE Texas since it would drive the water up into Sabine Lake. This is just too small to worry about.
