It probably has something to do with the Image banner.... :lol:

Good luck finding a source for such awesome resolution images though... if you do find one, please do share.

I told you - Cat 5. I am not as experienced as you guys but general evolution and intensity would always call for a storm that could maintain decent eyewall structure after passing over land might indicate a cat 5 if given enough warm water and low level shear enviroment.

thats what I have but after being burgled the other day I no longer have my laptop with photo software! (OK lost 3 weeks May 2005 storm chasing pics too). I wanted to post that awesome pic. Awesome. BUT scarey.

I "roll my own" images using a program called McIdas. Just do a Google search on McIdas and you'll find it. But you need a raw data feed and probably a Unisys workstation.

Ahhh Ive used McIdas in the past, Ill have to see if I still have it installed.

Thanks Nate. You only see that it in intense hurricanes. From being nearly dead this morning, this storm is approaching Category 4.<P>If that doesn't get peoples' attention, nothing will.

Unfortunately, I think I see Mobile in there. It looks like a set of crosshairs looking for the target.

Have mesovortices (pentagram) ever been observed in canes less intense than cat 5? I have heard about/seen images of Ivan, Isabel etc. I was just curious because as I recall those storms were cat 5 when this was observed. Not saying that Dennis is cat 5 just asking a question.

Normally that is reserved for upper cat4s or cat5s. I'm waiting for recon.
