Unless he hasn't informed us of his credentials, pcolaguy isn't a met but I hope he's rich in case it does strike in south Texas. All that money should go to relief efforts.

Agreed. I'll be happy to relieve him of $500. :D

Hmmmm, well they do say that animals have an uncanny ability to sense changes in the weather.... :D

I'm not sure if I am remembering this correctly, but didn't one of the two people in that thread who claimed a Texas hit was impossible claimed to be a met student....that might be what she was referring to, I dunno...

And I like the idea of sending a big fat check to the relief efforts .... :D

Gotta love arm chair quarterbacks . Forecasting is still an inexact science and despite the forward progress made w/the aid of models, better observations, there's still bound to be errors, especially concerning tropical systems. Obviously the NHC, NOAA and other agencies try to limit these errors but again they're going to happen from time to time.

Yes, though he/she was not the person who offered the $500.

If this pcolaguy actually pays up (and Emily actually does hit TX), any Texan S2K member who suffers loss or damage due to Emily can have MY $500 to help with repairs, clean up and the like.

Northern Mexico.

However, South Texas is in the cone, and should remain vigilant.

Especially anyone in the immediate vicinity of Brownsville.

pcolaguy also started a nice thread about how he shouldn't have evacuated for Dennis, so it was so weak upon landfall.
