Of course this isn't anywhere NEAR the kind of widespread devastation that Katrina, Ivan, Camile, or Dennis.... but it's a hurrricane. And a slow moving one... what we're discussing here are the potentials for the OBX with a storm moving slowly along the southern islands.
My thoughts and prayers (and tax deductable donations) are with all of the victims of Katrina.
Waiting game for the extreme Outer Banks

As well as inland communities, too, like Princeville, Greenville, Tarboro and Rocky Mount, NC.

1:10 am............
...first twisting of the shop rafters, gust to around 60+..........
Radar shows bad stuff on the east eye wall around O'cock inlet, with a twice as wide new band rotating offshore.....
OK, the cell towers across the street just hit the high moan, it's for real.....
This really sucks ass, if it stalls on top of us the north side is hating it.
Officer Kerney just stopeed by the shop, said possible cut through already at the semi-condemed house at S-turns............
Can I wake up now?????????

The addr. for his his shop
http://foxwatersports.com/
is a PO box in Buxton... so I'm guessing he's on the S end.... but the cut could certainly be up there.

Rodanthe is a likely place...especially if the back side of the storm rakes accross that part of the coast causing a large sound tide.
The S curves has been washed over many times...but never "cut" in my life time. However...there have been several inlets in that area in years past.
BTW...I live in Kill Devil Hills and just recorded a 45MPH wind gust.
