At least one global model NOGAPS shows a very small hint of something in the SW Caribbean in 144 hours.I would like to see more models showing something in this area to then be more enthusiastic about it.

this is the area to watch this time of year, just disorganized right now, but if it persists, it may try to get its act together

Thanks cycloneye.

The deep convection east of Nicaragua has persisted over 12 hours. In addition, an upper-level anticyclone has developed over it. Conditions look favorable for a TD to develop within the next 48 hours it seems.

THE TRADES HAVE PICKED UP TO
NEAR AND SLIGHTLY ABOVE CLIMATOLOGICAL LEVELS WITH A MORE
WINTERTIME REGIME TRYING TO ESTABLISH ITSELF. A COMBINATION OF
THE ITCZ AND A WAVE IN THE SW CARIBBEAN IS LEAVING THAT AREA
UNSETTLED FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS BUT LARGE-SCALE CONDITIONS DON'T
APPEAR TO BE VERY FAVORABLE FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT.

1:05 PM EST discussion.

Not so fast folks.

This will be the first quiet weekend on the tropical weather front (in the Atlantic basin at least) in months.
