Breeze is picking up a bit as a band is approaching us from the east. Hopefully everyone in the Keys and extreme southern Dade are done with preps, or will be soon. Won't be long till these bands get stronger and more frequent....

A few clouds around, hot and humid, probably high 80's. Hardly any breeze, it's really pretty calm out now. The calm before the storm? And I'm still not seeing any animals or birds around today.

We have a large family of ducks (few generations) that lives in the canal next to us, and comes into the parking lot every morning, hanging out until evening.

Didn't see a one, and I was looking for them.

NW Miami Dade. 12:30pm. Wind East @13, Gusts to 21. Pressure 29.90 and falling. Cloudy.

Edited to add....and thick cloud cover that keeps interrupting my satellite TV. ALSO, now heavy/blowing rain. Nasty!

I was just outside with a neighbor and there isn't a single bird anywhere around...only living critters besides humans are the dogs being walked, and that's it....not even the lizards that are normally hanging out outside.

Partly sunny here, with breezy conditions picking up to around 12MPH sustained and 18MPH gusts from the east. More cumulus coming in with some cirrus.

Putting up ALL the shutters at my house now...

Here in homestead we've had a little rain come through but nothing really strong. Same thing with the winds. It's been really cloudy and HOT all day long.

good news. the pressure is up to 1008 mb. he's over the gulf stream and losing strength. with no core established he's really nothing more than a big thunderstorm. we really got lucky on this one.

Breezy, and picking up...16-18mph from the east. Very cloudy. Looks like a small thunderstorm cell coming in from the east, just a few miles out...then a brief lull before a fairly large pack of rain and cloud move in from the first of the outer bands. Temps dropped into mid 80s the past 30 minutes.

Even as I type, the east has gone quite dark...on radar it's a little patch of rain, with more behind.

A low band of short-topped cumulous is just barely detectable as drifting over us from the SE. This means a tight storm since the outer circulation isn't moving. The cirrus overcast has slightly thickened.

The main thing seen here is the west edge of the storm that hasn't moved any further west over the last few hours, suggesting a weather border keeping it east. There's still blue sky to the west.

Big squall came through here (Coral Springs) about half hour ago. I was about three minutes from home (delayed by traffic snarl due to an accident) and the sky opened up.

Not raining now, but gusty, dark and coolish.

This was the view east from Coral Springs 20 minutes ago:

Image

Taken from the deck of my office 2nd floor...near the corner of University and Sample.

On radar it looked pretty heavy too, though very small. But it passed over with nothing more than some light rain...now skies are back to a neutral grey, no rain. More looks to be on the way in 30 min or so according to radar, as the first wide swath of outer bands come ashore up here.
