As I noted earlier to you when you posted an opinion that may have differed from the standard politically accepted opinion; I totally respect a Met who says what they think not just reading the NHC or NWS advisories or forecasts.
My issue is with those that don't accept that every storm is not a big event and chatise people who do tell it like it is for fear that they will never take a storm seriously. Seems like those who call Ernesto a non-event get scolded for doing so. I am glad you are not one of them.
Thank you for posting on S2K, you Pro Mets are what help make this site a site of distiction and a "must have"!!
Forgive me but I'm going on a tear here.........

As is often the case...unless it hits the mainland US...many death dealing storms don't *count* for a good majority. See....Ernesto 2006 (so far).

Floyd was horrible rain for us...lord, I remember my husband taking me out about 3 days post Floyd and I was shocked to see the waters so high and houses in areas where all you could see was the roof or the chimney.
(My hubby works for DOT here) I thought Fran was bad with the wind, but heavy rains can cause as much destruction. Different animals those two...wind vs rain. But both equal in destruction.

Well I love the NBC6 Team... I am watching them on the web and they are just thankful that the storm is what it is... they are going to air normal programming this evening.
They did say that some areas make get a few inches of rain and we all understand that. You can't hype the storm anymore.... the hype is over... the Hurricane Watch has been dropped and Ernesto isn't looking to be slowing down. If he slowed down.... flooding may become a concern. Ernesto DID not follow what the models had to say.... Cat 3 or 4 into Texas.... Cat 1 or 2 into Tampa.... it just did what it wanted!
Have a good night Floridians! Sleep tight!

My thought is (and some people have mentioned it on this board) an afternoon thunderstorm can really whip some trees around and throw patio chairs, but they only last 15 or 20 minutes. Imagine that same storm going for 10 to 12 hours? I thank god it isn't a major hurricane, but I don't like they way they keep downplaying it as an "afternoon storm". I hope everyone uses common sense and stays safe.
THAT'S irresponsible, IMHO.
Also, it had been mentioned that there is a possibility that Ernesto may S L O W L Y exit the peninsula, so the flooding could be a BIG problem.
