They are not climbing in altitude. The third column is in feet and is directly related to the surface pressure, as they try to stay at a certain pressure level. All this increase in altitude indicates is a rising pressure, indicating that they are flying away from the center. If you look back to when they were near the eye, the altitude is around 4800ft.
And this is a NOAA jet, and therefore not exactly intended for low-level pentration as it did today, so this exit from the storm (however complete it may or may not be) indicates either an outer leg or an exit for synoptic survaillence.

Seems I read that somewhere.
I thought the last three digits were the estimated rainfall rate in mm/hr (e.g., 10 mm/hr in this case). I was basing my comment on the abrupt lack of continuity in both wind speed and wind direction.

I found it.Yes,if it says 1 it is suspect so that 129kt is suspect.
Cycloneye, I think you're looking at the way to decode AF obs. If I'm reading the thread you linked correctly, NOAA obs have the last three digits as estimated precip rates, right?

Definitly the AF obs are more easy to look at and to understand which columm is for what. The NOAA obs are more complicated.
