No July Named System?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Not necessarily. I have never seen the numbers, only assertions. There are other storms that move energy from the equator to the poles other than tropical cyclones. A basin can be lacking in tropical cyclones and still transfer energy.

South Atlantic.

Well, the water usually cools down some in the winter. What happens if the GOM is really hot but has no storms during the hurricane season? I think somebody once said there could be more severe weather outbreaks or something. I remember we seemed to have a number of them last winter, although El Nino might have been at least partially responsible for that.

You and all the experts seem to expect this season to ramp up like magic in August.
I wouldn't be surprised if you are all wrong.
A quiet season once again this year.
That's my vote...

This season seems pretty normal to me thus far if not a little quiet.
So.... why not a prediction for a "normal" season perhaps quieter than normal?

A whole season of 20 page threads on all Invests and non-stop debates and arguements over Invests and whether each one should even be called an Invest!!!!! :cheesy:

You just described last year.

It's definitely boring lately. The EPAC isn't even that much better. Sure, it's squeezed out a couple more systems, but whenever they begin to look half-decent, they fall apart. It's one step forward, 3 steps back. And the Atlantic is truly dull. Yes, I know that's normal for July.

The first few Canadian fronts of the year usually drop the surface temps in the Gulf a fair amount, and, of course, some of that heat goes out with the Gulf Stream to help our friends in Europe.

AnnularCane is right, those are usually the times when your area will get pummeled, so as always stay vigilant and prepare for the worst, hope for the best
