In the words of Butthead, this thread sucks more than anything has ever sucked before. Some of the posts are laughable and downright ignorant. Someone needs to tell several American mothers that their children are not using their ADD medications.

Shame, shame, shame on ignorance.

I agree, we knew the season would pick up it was just a matter of time. We now have Danielle, Earl, and a code red for a wave off Africa which may become Fiona here in the next couple of days.

The board is rather dead though since none of them appear to be threats to the United States. So depending upon what camp you are in on this board perhaps the thread is still applicable (I sure hope not though)...keep the fishing coming!

The posts in this thread poke fun at the "ignorance" or cancel posts.

My impression was that this thread was an intentional joke where people claim the season
is over only for humor and not out of seriousness. But some posts do sound serious.
Oh well...this is one of the funniest threads on s2k, if people mean it as a joke that is.

Steve, this thread wasn't intended to be serious. It was created at the beginning of the season, and people were using it sarcastically....I never thought this thread was serious....It was actually a parody to make fun of those who jump on the "season cancel" thread early in the season....

I saw it as humor. I think most people know the seriousness of a storm and it ol takes one storm to make it a devestating season but with all the talk on how bad it was going to be and it would rival the worse seasons ain histor yand so far it has been quite I think for right now people are breathing a SLIGHT sigh of reliefing but knowing we till have a couple months to go. I just went on to get a laugh or two.

pfft, what are you guys talking about? This season is a complete and total waste. There's only one hurricane out there, one tropical storm, a measly invest that's barely above a 50% chance of developing. Gulf? completely empty. Caribbean? Nada. Face it, this season sucks!

was that sarcasm over the top enough for everyone?

I replaced the auto-reloading SAL map image with a static tinypic to preserve the irony. :grrr:

I'm going to put my hurricane shutters up on Craigslist and see if I can swap them for a grill to cook all of these fish on.

hurricaneCW wrote:Don't forget that Bonnie and Carla could have both been easily not named. There was barely enough support for an upgrade to a TS from both of them. Colin, according to the other thread, may not have even had a LLC or a closed circulation. The only storm that I believe was a storm for obvious reasons was Alex. I'm sure we could get 12-14 named storms if the NHC decides to name any pitiful disturbance that will die off in 24-48 hours a storm, but that would not be considered an active season.

I'll wait two weeks to see what will happen, but I'm really beginning to doubt this season's supposed above average level of activity. Clearly, the water temperatures didn't make any difference. The strong Azores high/SAL and the persistent TUTT's/ULL's, lack of MJO definitely did.

You do mean Colin instead of Carla right? Carla was a Category 5 hurricane:

I agree with Steve. We need to fight the epidemic of ADD and season canceling.

Steve, ummmm, did you go back and read the thread? I figure the part about me eating ho-ho's in my slippers made it pretty clear that this thread was tounge in cheek. I really don't do that. Well, not too often at least.
