Re: The Name That Storm game, series III
I had a map on here, but I checked with the best track and it was too misleading.
So I will try something different.
THE GOVERNMENT OF THE BAHAMAS DISCONTINUED ALL TROPICAL STORM
WARNINGS FOR THE BAHAMAS AT 10 PM...0300Z. TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS
FOR FLORIDA WERE DISCONTINUED AT 7 PM. FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ON WEATHER IN FLORIDA...SEE STATEMENTS BEING ISSUED BY LOCAL
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICES.
AT 10 PM EST...0300Z...THE CENTER OF --- WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 28.5 NORTH...LONGITUDE 79.5 WEST OR ABOUT 75 MILES
NORTHEAST OF MELBOURNE FLORIDA.
---
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MPH...85 KM/HR...AND LITTLE
CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS LIKELY THROUGH THURSDAY.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HONOLULU HI
<STORM> IS FINALLY LOSING ITS TROPICAL CHARACTERISTICS AS IT CONTINUES
TOWARDS HIGHER LATITUDES. THIS WILL...THEREFORE...BE THE FINAL
ADVISORY ON THIS SYSTEM.
Chacor...is there a winner yet for this storm???...

Its John. As he said easy one.
Still seems strange to have a ridge that strong over the EPac.

Report:
(This storm made landfall in the southern United States)
The [year] season seems to be characterized by systems developing in relatively cool baroclinic environments. --- was one of these systems. ...
[T]he track was essentially parabolic. ...
[It] never did achieve a good outflow pattern and periodic intrusions of cool air along the northern portion of its course probably restricted the potential for strengthening.
