Tropical Wave in Western GOM

It's raining hard here, with lots of thunder and lightning. We had the same a little bit ago as well, then it stopped for a bit. Looks like a lot more to come...

Pressure starting to drop a little in these Buoys. Lets see if this a trend or what.

they were both in 29.80's to 29.90 within the last 24 hours. what am i missing?

You should look at 24 hrs ago to compare pressure readings. They are small drops, just something to watch and see if it continues.

I'm in Lockport, La right now (about 40 - 50 miles south of New Orleans). Looking south, the sky has that "tropical look" to it with the dark blue background and low, white whispy clouds.

Pressures are rising slightly via bouy data. UUL near Del Rio, TX is effecting NW GOM system. ULL may have moved a little N today which does not fair well for Middle and Upper TX Coasts.

You working or just moved to Lockport, my current home-town or at least the place we couchsurf at. Hadn't seen you guys since the french quarter last year.

FWIW, it's breezy and cloudy in downtown New Orleans. Nothing to write home about and no rain so far.

The area is "looking" interesting with every passing hour. You just don't know with these
tropical systems. I guess only time will tell. By the way, it really hasn't moved much in the last 24 hours.

Why does the ULL moving North not fair well for SE Texas?

Cause and effect. SE TX has been on northern fringe of tropical airmass of system in GOM while ULL was near Cotulla, TX. ULL drifting N will allow tropical surge to move inland further N and E of influence of ULL. Remember, we had a frontal boundry move through Houston Metro area earlier this week with low dew points. That has changed now. Just my thoughts.

It's not raining here (yet) at the office, but I was out during lunch and I noticed the wind has picked-up from the east. If this were "pre internet" days, I'd be anxiously awaiting the next Tropical Update because the conditions outside today are reminiscent of what happens when systems form south of us in the GOM.
