A personal question.

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Since the last update, 25 more members have participated in this thread and given up the goods! Our youngest member is 12 and our esteemed elder is 72!! And the youngest age group (10-19) includes June 2005's MOTM - Go Floydbuster!!!

Of those who participated, here's the breakdown of ages:

10-19 years old = 19
20-29 years old = 32
30-39 years old = 43
40-49 years old = 55
50-59 years old = 24
60-69 years old = 5
70-79 years old = 1

BTW - the 40-somethings are STILL leading the way on S2K!

Thanks again, Stormcenter, for originating this thread...

You should put this some where on the site (maybe the memberlist) where every one will be able to see it when ever. They will already but eventually this thread will creep back through the pages. Make it so when a new member regesters they will have an option that is optional and they will enter there age and how long they have been tracking hurricanes. Once they regester the list on the site will automaticly update.

It's the weekend and since things are not as "fired up" as in recent weekends, I thougt I'd bump this up a bit in case anyone else would like to participate. Keep those stats coming and I'll keep things in the table updated as reasonable... It's pretty simple - just post your age and how long you've been tracking 'canes.

53 in June.... first storm of any significance was Betsy in 65... I thought it was so cool, and got us out of school too.. then I got up close and personal with Camille... that was the storm that made me a storm tracking fanatic, Camille was the most incredible event that I have ever witnessed and I doubt (and hope) that nothing weather wise will ever top it... I have been living right on the beach in Biloxi since 1975 and is so awesome when it comes to tracking and experiencing the storms, for Camille I was on the east end of town on the point, actually worse than being on the beach... however, I must admit I get a little anxious when we get threatened with a potential Cat 4 or 5....

yeah VB last year's close call with Ivan and this year's threat with Dennis has affected me more than any other of the storms throughout my tracking career... I think I don't just handle the major threats as well as I did when I was younger... Heck 20 years ago I would have NEVER even considered evacuating the beach for any kind of storm... now I do consider it but fortunately have not had to... I would still stay put for a Cat 3 or weak 4 since I am 20 feet above sealevel... but my wife would evacuate to the MS Power Company where she works...

I've been storm tracking for 40 years.... and they never cease to amaze me....

It's the age thing Frank we now have something to lose and starting over at 45 or 50 in your case(?) does not sound appealing. My experiences go with Frank's to young to remember Betsy though.See you around Frank.OK the numbers 44 yrs old about 20 yrs of tracking.

I'm 34.

I began tracking hurricanes for my mother while she was at work (she couldn't play at work and of course, there was no internet. Just me glued to the TV updates and in later years TWC) in around 1979. So I guess that's about 26 years!!!
