Winds are picking up. Should get higher as system moves onshore and East.

It is just a general idea of the general wind field. Does not mean every one is expericening these winds. remember this info is based on the recon flights that say tropical storm force winds extend 90 miles north & east of the center. (see NHC latest adv. @ 8:00am) Hope this helps. :D

By what I'm seeing by the recon flight, Barry still has tropical charecteristics, strongest winds just SE from the center, near 50 mph at surface I would say.

yes it does. We were warned about that by Dick Fletcher. Keep an eye out for possible tornadoes around St. Pete Beach.

We get many of these. Frances, Jeanne, Gordon, Gabrielle, etc.................... Problem is that most people here don't know anything more than a 70 mph storms. Most I went thru here was Hurricane Elena and then evacuated right into Hurricane Charley. Problem is that most people here don't know the difference between a strong TS and a 100-130 mph Hurricane. And there is a big difference. When you go thru you know it.

This is the WORST FLOODING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN
MY BACKYARD FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS ive been in FL.
The front yard is underwater, the streets are flooded,
the water from the pool has overflowed
and is 1 inch from flooding the House Room by
the pool. This is a VERY BAD FLOODING SITUATION!!!!

I am near the water of tampa bay...the canal "pond" has risen about
a foot already just due to the rain. This is going to be a bad flood.
