Have had a little rain and wind, no damage as of 11:30 pmEDT here. This waiting on Frances to get her rear in gear is driving all of us up the wall.

Ok, I just got smacked in the eyebrow by a tiny little tree limb.
We heard something hit our front door, so I opened it a little bit to see that it was a small tree limb, and another one flew at me and hit my eyebrow.
It's a bit windy around here!

Please be careful when peeking out side in this wind. When we heard my plum tree being uprooted by Charley recently we didn't go outside until the next morning. Charley just gave lakeland a glancing blow but left a lot of damage in southern Polk County.

I am about 20 miles south of Tampa along I75. The pressure here is 1000mb. We have had a couple of bands come through but nothing severe. A total of .35 inch of rain and the highest gust all evening was 34 mph. I live about a mile from Tampa Bay on the east side.
We should have a Tampa Storm2K get together.

Any news from the Dunedin area? I have two sisters there. One is gone in LA, but the other is riding out the storm in a highrise on the inner waterway.

Tornado warning for norther Hills county. Just had a small cell come through and blow things around, and some rain. Still nothing substantial.

the cell that triggered the tornado warning in pasco and hillsborough came right by my house according to radar. pretty gusty and brief rain but that's it.

Looking at radar, worst cells so far are about to push through soon. Looks like we may get some 40+ mph gusts based on their radar presence.

For the Dunedin questions: I am about 4-5miles from Dunedin and have friends there, have heard nothing significant at this time.

As for my house, yes the damage was minor and is not likely to cause additional damage, but it was amazing to walk out to go to check on things at work and find damage after the first squall line.

It's been pretty quiet in Palm Harbor for the moment.

band is moving through right now. heaviest rain we've had and strongest gusts in the 50+ mph range.

Same back to you! I know the feeling of being concerned for folks in multiple places.

My immediate family is here in Pinellas county, also have folks in Ft.Pierce area w/condos and beach houses, others in Orlando area, and still another family contengent up in the Panhandle that may get nailed with this baby after it finishes here on the penisula. Thank goodness the winds decreased a bit yesterday, since Frances is big enough to give us all a little trouble.

Band just ceme through South Tampa

#55 Postby South Tampa » Sun Sep 05, 2004 1:13 am

I just felt a pretty decent band come through Hyde Park.
I was up in new Tampa when the first band came through this afternoon
and caught some golfers unawares at USF.

I went to Vero for Charley but I am riding this one out.

Just saw a pod of dolphins come up off our dock. Couple of babies in it. They don't seem to be bothered by any of this.

Much of the west Tampa bay area may luck out and stay on the weak side of the storm thanks to Frances making a northwest jog after landfall. The southwest side of the circulation is much drier and winds are only tropical storm strength.
