If you are forced to evacuate

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

My family and I will head to Texas to my sister's house in Austin, if we can push my father to go there. He perfers to stay in Houma, but for a Cat 4-5 it could get flood out. We are leaving before orders are giving. For all of the storm that hit or effected our area we stayed in Houma. Katrina and Rita was a wake up call for us. We are leaving the parish for a large storm.

Good call because if a Cat 3 or above hits Houma, the surge will cover all of Terrebonne Parish. Downtown Houma will be under 10-12 feet of water depending on the severity of the storm. Best idea is to leave Terrebonne Parish all together and go much further inland.

Luckily for me, a high school that is used as a Red Cross evac center is located about 1/4 mile up the road from me. So should I choose to evacuate (which is unlikely, I rode out Fran, Bertha and Floyd here) I don't have very far to go.
