The track looks VERY promising so far, but we need it to pick up a LOT of water in the "warm" waters before it runs down the coast! It doesn't appear to have much rain in it as yet.

Happy start to '07 season
My wish is for 3 or 4 mild tropical storms over the next few months to put an end to this drought. We need rain badly.

Indeed. The local news media refers to Andrea as a "tropical storm" and follows that with a story about storm preparation, including the nice stock footage of floods and EMS officials. Hold on...the third story is about a hurricane conference. I'm not saying stories about preparation are a waste of time, but it is interesting to see the local media hop all over this as though Andrea were at Cat 3 sitting off the Mississippi coast.

You are correct. Convection has diminished considerably since this morning (and it wasn't too good then, either). Winds appear to be dropping. The NHC killed it by calling it Andrea. Looking at the latest buoy reports encircling the storm, I'm seeing more 20-30 kt winds now. Don't see any more 35kts or higher. IF there are any TS-force winds left, they're not covering a large area.

A interesting question I will ask to our resident pro mets. How if any,the smoke of the fires in SE Georgia and Northern Florida may or not affect the system?
