TD 7, 2002: Hours after forming

Are you kidding me, if that's a tropical depression, then Andrea is just being ignored, unbelievable.

With a CDO like that the question is becoming "is it a TS?" Big round central CDOs usually suggest a mid-strength TS.

It has really captured my attention.... looks good.

I'm banking that they will reupgrade Andrea at 21Z.

Maybe we should give it a "B" name so we can say it's not even June and we are up two. It's embedding itself and going to move out to sea and over colder water pretty quickly. It's up to the NHC but Andrea has had it's 15 minutes of fame as far as I'm concerned. Unless it regenerated to a full blown tropical storm I'd let it die a quiet death and get ready for the real season that's coming up soon. An interesting preface to the season but nothing more. Don't start buying out the canned ravoli just yet Florida.

I was going to say TS, but I thought someone was going to disagree, so I said TD instead. I hope the NHC is watching her right now, she should be upgraded soon.

If you see another Special Tropical Disturbance Statement before 21z or 5 PM EDTwhere among the sentences, they say that advisories will resume on Andrea at 5 PM EDT,then bank of it. :)

If they decided to upgrade TD 10 in 2004 that was in the middle of the North Atlantic and already dying, then Andrea should be given a similar recognition.

Theres little question that its a depression or tropical storm right now. Nice cdo looks as good as it ever has...Really if they upgraded it the first time they surely should upgrade it now. We will see.

I will go look at more satellites to make sure that I don't look bad for saying the above. But looking at the stalls, I say easly.

Lay off the NHC, they're the pros we aren't. They will upgrade it when they feel its necassary, just be patient guys and see what happens.

If the NHC states in the next update that this system has the chance to become a TD in the next 12 hrs, then they are sadly wrong because this is a TS right NOW!

We are here to discuse tropical cyclones, I just think its part of the discussion to discuse whats what? I'm not really bashing the nhc but saying my own option.

This area of low pressure has sure shown some
impressive convection...
Looks like a Tropical Storm, but I am no
expert. I'll wait to see what the NHC says.

Do you have acess to the all the info the NHC has? It is statements like this that brought about the strong restrictions on what could be discussed last year. If we don't want that to happen, I think it is a good idea to be a little easier on the powers that be. We don't even know yet what they will do at the next update time. Or know what type of data they have that we don't. Just my honest opinion.

Really looking at satellite the LLC is slightly displaced 50 miles or so from the center of the convection. But I don't see any reason why that should stop this from being upgraded,,,,This system reminds me of tropical storm Bonnie as it was moving at the gulf coast 2004, and Barry 2001. Yes it has some shear moving the convection off place, and I think the nhc is scared to upgrade based on the last few fall aparts.

Easy my friend.NHC does it's job based on scientific data and not on the court of public opinion. They know very well when to upgrade a system or not.

I'm as impatient as anybody to see an upgrade. But they will probably do so when they have enough data.

Andrea looks ready for anything! She is PUMPED! :D
