I just turned 47 this year.Up until Andrew,I only had a passing interest in hurricanes. But Andrew was so astounding in its formation. It was the first one I seriously tracked. Ever since I've been hooked.I find them fascinating, yet scary

:flag:
I just turned 48 last month. Have been in disaster assistance since 2004 (florida's storms).
I guess I have always been facinated with the weather, but now I want to learn more about it.

40 years old.
I have been paying attention to storms since I moved to Florida in 85. Since I have had children, I have been much more serious about preparation. I don't mind sitting around for a few days with no electricity, but try to convice a hot and tired 4 year old that it isn't so bad. Sheesh. Forget it.

57. It was enduring Katrina that sparked seasonal interest in tracking Atlantic storms.

I'm 17 and I suppose I became obsessed during 2003 with Hurricane Isabel.

47 this month along with a 30th wedding anniversary.
My fascination with hurricanes began with Betsy in 1965, as it passed over and my dad put our hands on the walls and we could feel the wind hitting it outside.

Then in 1969, we were living right outside of Bay St. Louis, my first real feeling something was dreadfully wrong was when I walked out into the hall in the middle of the night could see my father in the living room sitting hunched over the tv trying not to miss a word about Camile (for you younger ones..tv didn't stay on all night back then). I also will never forget looking out our front door early the next morning and seeing cars lined up as far as you could see on the highway leaving Mississippi. All of this would be topped off when we returned home and remembeing my mother crying as we saw what was left behind that only days before we had called home.

Feeling the wnds of Andrew, Katrina and Rita...over the past few years has only added to my respect and awe of what mother nature can do. So, I will continue to lurk here for years to come.

*By the way...the tv my dad was sitting in front of was his pride and joy..the only colored tv in the family at that time. Get this...it was recovered --allowed to sit and dry for 3 months..tubes taken out, sand and residue from the salt water cleaned out --then tubes put back in and the dang thing worked.

I'm 26, and I have been tracking hurricanes since 2003 on S2k, but I had to change my login last year! (long story short, i deleted the email account i was set up on, forgot my password, and then had no way of getting the reminder because there was no email account to send it to lol.) I feel like some of these people are like family, even though i know they dont know me.

Like SeaninNewOrleans, who used to be a member a long time ago and stayed in NO for Katrina, but since then I havent seen anything from him. Does anyone know how he is/what happened to him?
