After seeing them downgrade Katrina I would not be suprised at all if they put Rita down as a cat 2.

AWARENESS OF THE THREAT POSED BY HURRICANES TO THE CARIBBEAN AND THE
ATLANTIC.


As you can see all the specialists are in this Caribbean tour so dont expect anymore reports the rest of this week.

It doesn't say "all" specialists are on the trip. Could be only 1 or 2 going down there with the rest continuing to prepare the reports.

Sweet, Rita report is out. Pressure is down to 895, and winds are up to 155 knots. Landfall was still a Cat. 3.

I must admit I wasn't expecting Rita to be upgraded anymore, then again with pressure down to 895mbs it was hardly suprisingly that they decided to up the winds a little more, looks like Rita was right in the middle of Wilma and Katrina.

In any normal season, Rita would have been by far the strongest and deepest of a season, but indeed that shows how unique this season really was.

EMILY - Cat. 5, 160MPH, 929 millibars
KATRINA - Cat. 5, 175MPH, 902 millibars
RITA - Cat. 5, 180MPH, 895 millibars
WILMA - Cat. 5, 185MPH, 882 millibars

2005 was just incredible!

Wow it is now stronger than Katrina but Katrina's damaged surpassed everything.

True... however, look at the amazing pictures of Rita damage. Rita was just about as destructive as Katrina! Wilma was also highly destructive.

You were right wxman57.Only one came here and was Lixon Avila along with Max Mayfield,the rest stayed at the office.
