TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
800 AM EDT WED SEP 16 2009
FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
THE REMNANTS OF FRED...LOCATED ABOUT 700 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE

Re: Tropical Wave west of Cape Verde Islands
Methinks the system behind this one has a better chance, being at a lower latitude, and hence farther from the killer westerlies, but never count out a wave with a circulation. All it needs is to fire some convection and it could be in business.

Is it not getting a bit late in the game for a cape verde system?

Why do tkink that, explain your interresting point of view? Just my opinion: anything can happen in September even near the CV islands, sure it's pretty rare to see a CV system in October, but let's wait and see.

Re: Tropical Wave west of Cape Verde Islands
Is the first time I see this in a discussion.
TROPICAL WEATHER DISCUSSION
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
805 AM EDT THU SEP 17 2009
TROPICAL WEATHER DISCUSSION FOR NORTH AMERICA...CENTRAL
AMERICA...GULF OF MEXICO...CARIBBEAN SEA...NORTHERN SECTIONS
OF SOUTH AMERICA...AND ATLANTIC OCEAN TO THE AFRICAN COAST
FROM THE EQUATOR TO 32N. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS BASED
ON SATELLITE IMAGERY...METEOROLOGICAL ANALYSIS...WEATHER
OBSERVATIONS...AND RADAR.
BASED ON 0600 UTC SURFACE ANALYSIS AND SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1015.
...TROPICAL WAVES...
AN EASTERN ATLANTIC OCEAN TROPICAL WAVE THAT WAS ALONG 23W/24W
AT 17/0000 UTC WAS NOT ALL THAT EASY TO DISCERN IN MY OPINION
AT 16/1800 UTC IN THE THEN-CURRENT VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY.
IT CONTINUES TO BE AS NON-EVIDENT NOW AS IT WAS TWELVE HOURS
AGO.
I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE LOOKING AT FOR THIS
ONE
.WARMING CLOUD TOP TEMPERATURES AND DISSIPATING BUT STILL
LINGERING PRECIPITATION ARE FROM 10N TO 18N BETWEEN 25W AND 27W.
THESE CLOUDS AND WHATEVER AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION DO NOT
VERIFY OR AUTHENTICATE THE EXISTENCE OF THIS WAVE.

Re: Tropical Wave west of Cape Verde Islands
Very unprofessional - I'm going to contact the NHC about this this morning...
Frank
P.S. I just spoke with the NHC - we'll see if they take it out...

The NHC just made the correction (that sentence was deleted) - it's good to have connections (LOL)...

Re: Tropical Wave west of Cape Verde Islands
Even if they took out the sentence now,the original text has been cut and pasted in the message boards around the net.

Yes, the world is so connected it seems that 1984 has finally arrived - it's troubling that I can drive through the intersection near my house and whether I want to or not have my picture taken by the camera mounted on the traffic signal, which can then be seen on the Internet by anyone around the world (and even on the ISS) - privacy is a thing of the past, especially in the bigger cities...
Ugh...
P.S. It's not that I'm against technology, but the doctor signed my birth certificate with an inkwell pen (they were still in daily use until 1960), and Laura Ingalls was still living when I was born (she passed on 2 years later), so the world has come so far in such a short time that it's hard to keep up - though I just purchased my first flash drive - an amazing little instrument...

Re: Tropical Wave west of Cape Verde Islands
Not that I like to criticize the work of other people, but I think that even I could have made a better discussion than that. Maybe the meteorologist is new or something. By the way, the tropical wave on the Caribbean has no evident signature, but the one on the Eatern Atlantic may be embedded in all that mess of clouds.
