I think this looks ALOT better than IRENE did t anytime before it was a depression. It's much larger and isn't quite as naked as Irene was. Irene was a fairly small disjointed ugly storm

Elysium is going to be unbearable with this storm...

I think Storm2K is threw with Elysium at least for a long while. His last "forecast" with TD10 was the final straw for most of us including the mods.

Wasn't Irene an invest for, like, ever?

Irene was originally a very large, well organized wave that became a depression...and everyone expected a big hurricane to quickly develope...then the center reformed to the north and it moved west as a naked swirl for two weeks before it finally got its act together.

Irene pre-TD looked very good, probably better than this does now.

but the conditions for Irene to develop were absolutely pathetic!! I'm shocked that it developed at all! This has ALOT more going for it. Less MJO, less shear, still some dry air but not quite as bad, and more favorable time of year.

Hi highly disagree. This is the best formed wave that's come off the Africa coast this year. Folks were looking at this wave well before it came off the Africa coast. This was not the case with Irene.... Don't let one bad apple(Irene) ruin the whole bunch . At least we have something potentially strong to track, fish or no fish.

By far this is the most impressive wave this year.It has the look of a big strong system but the main question is if it will threat the Caribbean or not.

It looks like a monsoon system over in the Western or Eastern Pacific. It will likely take 2 or 3 days to tighten up. Then thats a big if the enviroment can stay favable. We shall see.
