I feel really bad for you guys. :( I went through that last year with Frances. She sat on the coast for 24hrs. beating the devil out of my house. It was horrible. Then when she made landfall here it took her for ever to leave. Please take care

Surprisingly calm here in New Bern and very little rain too. The rain bands seem to be splitting before they hit us....I suppose the wind is missing us too. Well....for now anyway!

Hehe must be missing you neighbor, lucky you. We have been getting some nice squals hitting us off and on here in Fairfield Harbor. Water is up about 10 inches at NW Creek Marina in Fairfield Harbor and the ponds in the timeshare have been getting overflow throught he drainage system for about 2 hours now and have rose maybe 8 inches.

Here are some pics the one was Sept 12 as the waters had just came up a bit, and the other about half an hour ago.

Thanks for the photos, ncbird.

Water rising, now just over our dock and according to radar I believe we are in for some rain now. We'll both be getting some major water once this system gets further north and wind changes direction a bit. Just hope the power stays on for a good while longer!

Myrtle Beach and nearby areas, brace for HEAVY rain! There is potentially some 15 inches or more coming in, based on the satellite imagery above.

I'm in the blue sector just below Greenville. It hasn't rained much at all here since 2:30. It rained 1" between 1 and 2:30. I'm starting to suspect something about the geography in this area causes this, because this isn't the first hurricane that this has occurred (Isabel and Floyd come to mind.) Seems frequently a main feeder band trains just north of me.

Local TV (9) reports from live call-in by viewer: Sneads Ferry waterfront underwater. Docks broken up, several boats (including a 40 foot houseboat, a 30 foot net fishing boat, and a clam trawler) sunk. Large Pecan tree down in callers yard. For those who don't know, Sneads Ferry is on the coast near Jacksonville.

Washington waterfront seawall just overtopped, had live camera shot (I mean literally just overtopped, was like 1" over the wall in the shot.) This area is frequently inundated during storms (hurricane and nor'easter.)

Just herd on scanner Riverside Drive in Bridgeton has flooded and is under 4 ft of water with it rising rapidly. National Guard has been sent in to evac them.

Channel 12 (WCTI) just said the National Guard was familiarizing themselves with the area and helping a news crew when a lady asked for help (which they helped her)... but they wanted to clarify that there is no big evacuation going on in Bridgeton... even though there are about 4 ft of water there at this time

Just got a verification on this... they are not evacing the whole area but someone with a disabled family member stayed in the area and now asked for help and the National Guard went in. sigh..... local news has been saying for a couple days there was going to be major flooding here. Why must people take chances and then put others in danger to get them out.

Edit... I am getting my info from scanner on local and state police channel, and our local emergency fire, ambulance channels.

Thanks ncbird... you too, been hearing a lot about flooding in New Bern so you be safe too!! Road down from my house is gone, replaced by what looks like a river flowing across it (20th st for those who know the area) and a light from onr of the light poles fell down right in front of me... not just the bulb, the whole fixture... not fun!

Power keeps going out but coming right back... I am right near the hospital, so power is usually not out for long here.

Stay safe eastern nc folks!
