Really glad I did not put shutters up... they would have stayed up for the rest of the season.... looks like in the next couple weeks I could be putting them up anyways. Gotta love the weather.

Intensification can still continue over the glades and Okeechobee.

Yeah, I'm kind of chuckling that I did not put up shutters either.
My wife sure gave me grief about it.
I figured that the 11 AM would guide me.
If he was up to 60-65, I would have done it at once.

But at 45, it was a waste of time and energy.

Plus up and done is about 3-4 hours each way.

My vigilance remains the same but I don't want to haul them out when not needed. 8-)

Now he's done it! Watch, now that he said that one big last burst of energy will boost up Ernesto. Not really, but the way this storm has been, it wouldn't totally surprise me.

Gotta love the hurricane proof windows! I had them put in on my house 8 years ago...windows, sliding doors, etc. Had the garage door reinforced with cross bars, and a steel front door.

Makes the hurricane season a bit less stressful:

Preparations for a hurricane:

1. Bring in patio furniture.
2. Have a beer.

Plus - the added advantages - you get to watch the storm, and when the storm is just over and you have no power, you can open the windows without having to take down shutters.

Now if only I could get a natural gas generator installed before the next serious storm!!!

I just moved to Georgia instead.

My condo building is still condemned from Wilma. They might have it done for her anniversary.

My wife is down in Plantation though this week. Thank God Ernie isn't a 2005'ish storm, I'd really be on edge. Very lucky. Could you imagine if we were watching a Cat 5 on Ernie's path right now?!

Another wobble back NW. This should finish any chance of a near coast track. Over land it is from here.

convection really getting bigger now around center, but like i said its to late to intensify much. Another 6 hours over waters it would really ramp up.

If a Cat 5 were bearing down on Boca Raton, in any way that would put us in the eyewall, hurricane windows or not, I'm outta here. I'll drive or fly to wherever gets me out of the path.

Then have a beer.

I don't mess with Cat 5s!

Are you suprised? The storm didn't intensify at all this afternoon and looked more ragged late in day. Those hurricane watches really could of been dropped at 5pm, but I guess TPC doesn't want anybody critizing them.

If this was a major storm wobbles this close to land would make a difference. But you are right not here.

No kidding, I'm really glad it sucks! Like I was just saying above, could you imagine staring down a Cat 5 on Ernie's path right now? That would REALLY suck. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

I think it won't go beyond Florida Bay before landfalling on the peninsula.

Ernesto appears to be strengthening with a huge red spot over his center.
