So far the negative conditions are still prevailing and have knocked down a strong hanging trough in the Caribbean. No formation. We may get weak spins that get an invest or even TS status, but it is obvious the negative conditions are predominating.

:fantastic:

Bring on the negative conditions and hopefully a late season TD parked over the Big O.

As far as I'm concerned, the season is over. Enjoy Fall everyone!

La nina years can last through November. It's mid October. The trough over the Caribbean has not left and UL winds are good there. Some big storms in history have made landfall late in October three of which are the Tampa Bay Hurricane of 1921, Opal, and Wilma just to name a few...and especially in southern Florida, the season can last longer than the rest of the US because of how far south it is.

In addition we have yet to see that major cold front swing through and give the knock-out punch to the Caribbean. In fact the pattern is more like mid to late September. I forsee a chance of development as a couple of fronts swing through and stall in the NW Caribbean...

Remember it just takes one to make the season memorable. Just one.

So I say its over when it is over (like end of November) :)

I have to admit (so far) that I expected October to be more eventful than this. I still think there will be a Michelle-like very late season major hurricane in the Caribbean... Hope I'm wrong.

Wrong way Lenny two posts up went west to east in the Caribbean.

I think 94L has re-emerged off Honduras. We may see a backdoor contender to the negative conditions.
