Which storms will be the big ones in 2011

Here's my map of the 2011 season. Its based on guesses and a little amount of history. The blank chart is from the NHC. I didn't label which one is which so use your imagination

Well being that since 2000 5 of the seasons had November storms and 5 did not,I decided to go for 2 in a row with no November Storms.

I want to see a storm maybe Emily or Franklin make landfall somewhere in Central America and cross over into the Pacific because now if a storm crosses over and maintains at least tropical depression status when they emerge into the Pacific or Atlantic they get to keep the original name

Ya well...Everyone needs their fair share.No it passes sunny Tampa right to the south just like Charley, and the other hurricane (red line) gives us a little rain with little to no wind. Sorry Sarasota county southward .

How long can Tampa avoid another hurricane though?

Well 2011 marks the 90 year anniversary since the 1921 Cat 3, the last major to strike Tampa. So hopefully, we can make it to 100 years+, but only time will tell. We seem to be pretty lucky thus far.

Not necessarily. If we have a lack of storms, people tend to get "hurricane amnesia" and then you get a large disaster because people don't have a clue to what their doing. If there were more threats that actually occurred, the area is better prepared for upcoming storms. From the video I posted a while ago, Tampa is in trouble in the event of a major.

I am not sure I would say Miami has been lucky.. They had Andrew in 1992 and Katrina and Wilma in 2005. Though Katrina and Wilma were not majors when they came though they still packed quite a punch.

Well I meant like a Cat 4 or 5 making a direct landfall over downtown Miami. I read somewhere if a storm similar to the one that hit Miami in 1926 were to strike the city it could do twice as much damage as Katrina.

1. Not surprising when you think about it since Miami has grown "just a little" since that time.
2. A very scary scenario to contemplate!!! Let us hope it never happens!!!

I really hope this decade doesn't turn out to be like the 1880's or 1940's when the U.S., particularly the Gulf Coast and especially Florida and Texas got pounded by storm after storm.
