Chad - I still say welcoming new members is your best feature. It's one aspect that separates you from the rest, IMHO. When I found my own personal - Welcome Miss Mary - topic, I just had the nicest feeling. Not trying to get all sappy here, LOL, but that's honestly how I felt. For a long while I made it a point to welcome newcomers. Then I went on vacation and now it's a year later. I feel bad I've not welcomed new people much since then. Sorry about that. You get busy and tend to forget. But again, it is a very nice feature. After this vacation, within days, I'll try to do that once again.

Yes Mary, I love that feature as well... I as well dont get much time to get over there and welcome anymore either :-( Still a good feature, but I dont think its like it use to be.

The same members welcome members, only a few have stopped... it can be very time
consuming, especially with the new members not acknowledging their welcome.

I thought this was a great thread to bump up now while there are new members around. *For those who didn't look, this is a 2+ yr old thread.

I came here after joining Storm96 or Storm97 (whatever year it was) and posting there for a long time. Once Storm2k was created, it was mentioned frequently. I lurked for a while and then signed up in Sep. 2003.

So for the new members and anyone who didn't answer the first time around... How did you find Storm2k?

Tis was that fateful day at the other cable channel board.... I'm here thanks to Chad, Mary, Dennis, VB, etc.... I think several joined around the same time.

I'm surprised I haven't posted anything on here... there are many old faces that we haven't heard from in a while.

I found storm2K after reading bashing of this site from other places around the web. I had never heard of such a site for years and I thought that was odd since I should have found it a long time ago. I checked it out and found it was the perfect place to talk about tropical weather.

Around the time they were supposed to announce which 2005 hurricanes were going to have their names retired, I expected to see the info in the news but it was nowhere to be seen. A Google search led me here. I was amazed to find out that there was somebody besides me who was interested in retired hurricane names!

I was a former Palm Beach Post/Gopbi user as well. I came over in 2003 and I have never been happier. Storm2k blows away what Gopbi had. I have enjoyed the insight and commentary that I read here as well as meeting a lot of nice and interesting people. It was good to have some other locals to bond with while going through Frances and Jeanne in 2004. Plus, with my Verizon wireless internet connection and my laptop, even if the power and phones go out during a storm I can still stay up to date on Storm2k.

I found it by someone mentioning it on Dr Masters Blog who was as sick of the trolling as I was. This board rocks, except for the occasional hand of "God" that smacks me down for stupid reasons. I have learned SO much here, and everyone is so helpful.

Ok Im done being sappy.

I used to go to the Palm Beach Post Message board, and in Sept of 2003, found my way to Storm2K. Love this Board, and would never go back to any of the others...

I, too, I think, found S2K through that particular board that is ran by that cable weather network.

I use to be over at Gopbi and followed a lot of people over to this board in 2002 but lost my user name and had to make a new one in 2004 :)

I found this site when I was online looking for info when Isabel was coming to the East Coast. I don't remember how I got about getting here, but I managed to find my way and it is always where I go to first for tropical weather.
