Don't some high pressure systems have similar or lower pressure than that?

It's in an environment of extremely high background pressures.

t's off cape canaveral at the 10:30 TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I would have preferred some heavy rain, it's been a gorgeous day here. Rain-free, cloud-free with a really great breeze keeping the temps in the 80's -- the same kind of weather that used to make my Grandad look to the sky and say "hmm, somethin' might be brewin' here."

Hopefully, this little 91L nothing gave us immunity for the rest of the season (yeah, right :D )

The low is over central FL now. My barometer is showing 1010.4mb in East Orlando and very heavy rain and wind.

Big drop in surface pressure on the west coast near Venice.

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=venf1

Could be a yo yo but there is some precipitation rotating near there that can be seen on radar.

Well, it is 4:27 p.m. and I can't believe how much of Florida is under rain. We are getting a huge downpour from a thunderstorm. Got one yesterday that put our road under water briefly.

Loving the rain, but dreading mowing the lawn. It needed mowing and was to wet... LOL I will be bushwacking in a few days.

Does anybody think this might try to develop right over the Pennisula? I know it's landmass but it seems to be trying to get better organzied on radar images anyway.

drezee -- it's been bizarre! I've kept the NEXRAD Melbourne radar thread open all weekend and no storms develop until they cross the St. John's [river].

MLB NEXRAD

I needed that rain to test my "new" roof, but glad at least you're getting it. Stay safe.

Hopefully this takes care of those wildfires that have been fought out there in FL. Still unlikely to see this thing becoming anything more than just an ULL with tropical moisture associated with it.

Lowest pressures at 4 PM were at the Cape with 29.82 in and along the SW coast with 29.83 at Venice and 29.84 at Ft Myers and Naples. The trough axis is sliding west and should be nearing the west coast in the next several hours. I will be watching the Sarasota to Naples coastline for any rotation (vortices). I thought there was one earlier near Lake O but it may have dissipated or its lost under the mass of convection down there. In any case, pressures are low, lots of convection, & a trough axis moving over warm GOM water - might be something to watch.

The barometer here has been steadily falling since yesterday, about 29.86 now. Have to wonder if that big low over central Florida will regenerate in the GOM.

Here's a good 12 hour radar loop. You can see the low pressure area move from WPB to north of Lake O to southern Polk County. Looks to be moving NW. Don't know if it will reach the GOM or stay inland. Hit the 12-hour button and increase to fastest speed at the link.
