It's Saturday morning and I don't have to work, hurricane season has started again, there's a tropical storm banging on the front door and I'm actually listening to rain hitting the bedroom window! Now, if only I could teach the dog to bring me my slippers. What a great day.

Ditto Downdraft, but try that with a cat!! She has not moved out of her bed this morning.

Looks like the rain has finished here in south Florida. Lots of wind still, little bit of lite rain. Total rain for Palm Beach International airport for the last 24 hours is 6.6 inches if you total each hourly total. My rain gauge shows over 5 1/2 inches.

We've had 2-1/2" of rain so far and it just started sprinkling again.
Getting very dark now. We will probably get a taste of what St. Pete is getting soon.

Dick Fletcher said that we should start seeing the winds in an hour or so.
I think he said it will make landfall just to the north of us. Around Hudson in Pasco or near Bayport in Hernando.

xreaymike...that total pretty much agrees with MIA doppler radar totals....nice swath from Pompano up the coast to Stuart of 5 inch plus while inland maybe an inch and a half. Cells continue to race south to north with a little east drift....the heaviest now offshore...have fun Freeport and Nassau.

I was just telling my husband that I though there wasn't any thunder or lightning in a tropical system because it is warm core. I haven't seen any with this system. I wonder why you are getting thunder???

I think landfall will be in Pinellas County. It sticks out and that is where all the training effect is occurring.

Is not too unusual with sheared systems to have thunder in convection away from their center.

Looks like the big chunk of rain to our south missed south florida and things should begin to improve as the morning progresses.

Barry now racing at 20mph...

Good morning everyone from Tampa!

Here's what Barry looks like. We're looking at that rainband over Pinellas from South Tampa. The Gandy Bridge is in the distance.

Usually its not wise to try and microanalyse storms but the peak winds from Barry cover such a small area.

Fact789 and possibly Caneman have the best chance of seeing 45+ MPH winds but the highest winds are usually out on the beach.

North of Pinellas should be on the weak side.
