JMO But I think water temps are really overrated when it comes to tropical development. Wind shear, dry air etc have a much bigger impact on development than SST's do.

Gotta read the whole article though. IT also says SAL is not bad at all this year.

In 1948, Strom Thurmond broke from the Democrat Party over civil rights and ran for President as an independent "Dixiecrat. Henry Wallace also broke from the party, because he believed Harry S Truman's policy of opposing Soviet communism was wrong, and ran as the Progressive Party candidate. George McGovern was a campaign volunteer for the Progressive party.

Despite two splinter candidates from his own party, Truman squeaked out a win over Dewey.

Well water temps are important to an extent but I agree asd long as temps are above 26-27C then your going to be able to get a hurricane out of it and then shear becomes a far more important factor IMO.

A good part of the Gulf usually exceeds 30º each Summer, and there isn't a cyclone in the Gulf every year. High SSTs, while important, aren't the only thing needed for an active season.
