I was nine years old when Frederic hit the Alabama Gulf Coast. We lived in Fairhope at the time and I remember that night so well. I was playing around you tube and found this videos of Frederic. This hurricane is what started my fascination and interests in tropical systems. I hope it is okay that I posted this here.

From what I saw in an AMS document, 1979 had 8 named storms (ending at Henri), and 21 depressions. Even though it's a high number, that number of depressions seems so...absurd...for an 8 named season.
