Is Sept 23rd a magic number or something? I notice a lot of people think development will occur on that day.

My guess is Sept 22 off of a front in the Gulf but of course I could be wrong too!

The models are predicting a different scenario right now. Also, it's not just the basin one has to worry about at this time of year. Systems can be "home grown", or emerge from the Carribean.

Not to be rude, but that was an incredibly foolish statement, unless you go into hibernation every October. History shows a secondary peak in october (obviously not like Septembers but it shows up clearly on the chart)

Mitch, Hazel, Wilma, Opal, Juan, Kate, Michelle, and Lenny all occurred after September, and I could name many more notables from the late season. The last three did their damage in November. Heck, remember Noel last year?

Unless an El Nino appears out of thin air (or the LHC destroys the world) there will be more storms.
