What is there is a storm in december...would it count in the 2008 season? Statistics show the chance of a storm after november 30 is very low....but mother nature never signed off on the november 30 date...nothing magical happens at november 30 at 11:59:59.

Anything that forms in a particular year is counted for that year, meaning, that a storm that formed outside the OFFICIAL hurricane season is also counted for that season. The most recent example is Arthur that formed in May of this year.

It might be better to put it this way: the dates delineating "hurricane season" only suggest when a majority of the storms form; storms can and do form outside of these dates.

I think, it's better to say "Countdown to the official end of the Hurricane Season 2008"

Thanks for the suggestion. I had to reword the title as space is limited!

Well I am ready for the benign weather we have in Florida until next season.

South Florida got off very lucky this season with the only "strike" being Fay that finally filled Lake O.

Certainly a close call with Ike for which we apologize to our friends in Texas, particularly Ed who pulled the "season over" switch a little too early!

Big cold front coming to the GOM this week. Lows down to 43* here. That's probably it for 2008.
