33 the best we have?
As of 7AM CDT, highest sustained I can find is Brownsville (~55 miles north of eye?) is 33MPH. I got up early on a Saturday for this? :?

Also Scott it was a dry storm for south Texas nothing spectacular rainwise but let's now focus our attention to the east.

Understand where you are coming from Scott-since I get to do the early update each day! I am glad we chose not to do a chase on Erika due to the almost non-event in S TX and the fact she was moving so fast there was no way to catch her with Tony coming in from TN.

I noticed that too. According to Jim Cantore the winds where he was (at 3:30 a.m. CDT) were 45 mph (with occasional gusts to 50-60 mph). But what I really noticed was that there was a lack of rain.
There have been a few reports of power outages, but not too many.

Even as she came across W. Central Florida we experienced more wind (and I was very suprised about that) than rain. However there was areas in town that said they had very brief but heavy down pours. Some local power outages due to limbs being down.
Do you think the SAL that she had to contend with as she crossed the Atlantic had anything to do with her lack of rain? It sounds logical to me!
