well... today was THE day of the 2004 season. Ivan struck Alabama while Jeanne began its deadly rampage across Hispaniola

That is a reminder that I'd just as soon forget...After Jeanne's deadly rampage through Haiti we watched her turn North and thought we were done with her...WRONG! That crazy chick decided to do the loop de loop and come hit us here on the Treasure Coast exactly 3 weeks after Frances...September 2004 made me REALLY appreciate electricity and the value of a good sturdy home. We were fortunate to escape with only minor superficial damage to the house. As Derek has noted, many others were not so lucky.

me too SouthFLTropics! Thre were already blue roofs evereywhere from Frances, and then here came Jeanne. We were fortunate too. And we were more prepared after Frances had just come through. Living without electricity is bad, but what many others lost was major and Jeanne was the final straw for those hit hard by Frances already as they had had no time to even begin recovery.
