I just thought it was interesting with all the comparisons to 2005 that now even here in the north-east our weather for the month is being compared to 2005. I thought that it would be interesting to start a thread for collecting all the comparisons being made and discuss any possible implications it could have on the Hurricane season.
Here in Maine:
DO YOU REMEMBER MAY OF 2005?
My guess is you probably don't remember the month of May in 2005 especially with how warm this May has been. So far this month our average high temperature has been 66 degrees with an average low of around 44 degrees. Back in May of 2005 our average high was only 56 degrees with an average low of 42 degrees. The warmest temperature the entire month was only 70 degrees and that didn't even occur until the 28th of the month! In fact 15 days of the month saw the daytime high temperature at or below 55 degrees! Brrr!
In comparison, this year we've only had 3 days with a high temperature at or below 55 degrees and 7 days have been higher than 70 degrees, 2 days ,so far, have been higher than 80 degrees.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our average high temp for the month of May is 10 degrees above what it was in 2005. If that holds true through out the Hurricane season then that could mean that the SSTs up here could be warmer and any possible System making a run up the coast could be stronger then normal.
