Yeah, some of the environmental experts at LSU have said that a storm would tend to mix the oil into the water column and would serve to disperse or spread the oil further. My concern is that the surge would force the oil deeper into our marsh than it already is and would contaminate areas not protected by levees.
There is already talk of delayed re-entry into any areas contaminated with oil so if anyone evacuates they may not be able to return home for an extended period of time while the EPA and health officials determine safety. This "rumor" will cause many people including me to hesitate and maybe not evacuate except in an extreme situation (Cat 5). I think this could potentially cause unnecessary loss of life and more trauma for people who are already stressed with the oil spill, drilling ban, possible storm, and possibility of extended evacuations.
