Nice flare up in C Atlantic

#1 Postby boca » Thu Jul 08, 2010 10:56 pm

I know this is along the ITCZ but it looks impresive with deep reds. Its located at 7n and 36w.If this could somehow detatch itself we would have a player I think.

I just looked at the two and it wasn't mentioned at 8:05pm in their last discussion.

That's at a veeeeeery low latitude. 1/3 of the convection on across the equator.

I could well be wrong, but I think that about 1/3 of the convection is below the 5 degree north line. The "business end' appears to be at 7 or 8 north, which is far south, but far enough north that it could detach from the ITCZ.

I imagine that it will likely be gone in the morning, though. If it sticks, it could be something.

Hm, I was talking about the one at 40W, which seems to be completely gone.
