Question, trying to learn

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Question, trying to learn

So, if the storm is not behaving the way the models predict, how often do they update the models?

Here is a model link where the initial point is straight south of PR, but the course is nothing like any of the resulting tracks:

San Juan Radar (long range compositive reflectivity loop):

Most models are run 4 times a day. The GFS, ETA, local NHC models are in this cat. Some are 2x per day like the Nogaps. Some are once a day like the ECMWF.
