This is ridiculous

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

This is ridiculous

#1 Postby rob8303 » Fri Aug 22, 2003 4:45 pm

So, folks. We now have about 5 td's that have done absolutely nothing at all. TD 9 has followed the path of all these other td's and simply vanished. This is so frustrating. I wasn't ready to do it now and I still won't say that the CV season is a dud but I do say no major hurricane will hit the U.S this year (and that is a good thing but these things are fun to track in the water at least0.
And, as for TD 9 regenerating, forget about it. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN UNTIL AT LEAST GOM. And then probably spin up to 45 mph at most.
TD 9 IS A GONER. BRING ON THE NEXT WAVE THAT WILL DISSIPATE LIKE ALL THE OTHERS.

Chin up Rob! Remember everything happens for a reason. If this doesn't pan out another one will. WE have along time before hurricane season is over.

Many tropical waves develop every year and never develop. This became a tropical depression, (of course) and can easily become a tropical depression and a tropical storm at the very least with the favorable conditions continuing.

Remember, regeneration is possible at anytime. A line we don't hear much from the National Hurricane Center.

It's almost impossible to tell anything about circulation from the IR alone. I know it's really cooking off the convection but it has to have a close low at the surface to be a TD.

With the rather slow movement I'm sure Hispanola and Puerto Rico are going to have some serious flooding problems. Let's keep those people in mind. They're in for a rough couple of days!

It's a close call right now, but a DEFINITE POSSIBILITY! Check out the low level clouds(only a few) moving in from the West.

none of the waves in the atlantic look too good right now? td9, if it was a td, has a rocky road ahead

I have been noticing the convection, at the very least moving more northerly, rather than westerly.

That would put what center does develop north of the islands.

Isn't it possible that the center was reforming while recon was there?
And wouldn't that also mean that we still could have a TD?

But what do I know?

Hey vb...I'm looking at the shortwave Ir which is what you need to see low clouds at night and I see no clouds moving in from the west at the low levels. There are some at about 15K'...but nothing at the low levels.
