We have lost a friend tonight - RIP Dan

Many of you know Dan Meador (stormcloud on S2k and wxdata on KHOU) as a long time member and valued contributor to the weather community. Unfortunately Dan has cancer and has been moved to hospice. To say the least the situation is not good and his family has been called to his side. Please keep Dan and his family is your thoughts and prayers. May God grant them all peace in this trying time.

It is with a very heavy heart and sadness that I have to announce that Dan Meador passed away this evening. We have all lost a friend and someone that we cherished. Please know that Dan cared so much for all of you. He was a gracious and humble man that I am proud to call my friend.

My prayers are with Dan and his family. May hospice provide all of them a peaceful passage, as they did for my mom, me and my sisters.

I learned of Dan's illness via the KHOU weather board. I always enjoyed watching his morning weather reports on KHOU's site. Even after Dan was no longer at the station due to budget cuts, he still came to their board and talked with other posters as if nothing had happened. May God bless you, Dan, and your entire family during this difficult time.

Not much new to add this afternoon. Dan continues to be surrounded by family and friends as of this update. Dan's family asked me to relay their heartfelt gratitude and thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. They also know how special the S2k and KHOU Weather Forum is to Dan and how much he has enjoyed being a part of this extended family.
