Hurricane Bob, as a category 2, made landfall on Long Island and then New England, before passing through Atlantic Canada as a strong tropical storm. Bob was the last hurricane force tropical cyclone to effect New England. In my own area Bob caused sustained winds of 40-50 mph with several brief gusts to hurricane force (75 mph) and nearly three inches of rainfall in 12 hour period, which caused some minor flooding & roof damage to what is today my house:
