This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

How strong will the first storm of the season be?

#1 Postby Hurricane Andrew » Sun Apr 01, 2012 12:59 pm

We have where and when, but not how strong.

Since I don't see a poll option, here.

A. Tropical Depression
B. TS, 39 to 50mph (3 votes)
C. TS, 50 to 73mph (3 votes)
D. CAT 1 Hurricane
E. Cat 2 or higher.

Westwind, 50 kts would be 55 or 60 mph, which would be choice C.

C, a 50 knot tropical storm.

To be even more specific, it will develop within the Gulf of Mexico in late May.
