Hurr-B project with HurricaneTrack.com
I will be working with Mark Sudduth and Greg Nordstrom with HurricaneTrack.com tomorrow. We will be testing/launching a weather balloon with an weather data collection instrument package and cameras attached to test everything prior to the start of Hurricane Season. We will be in the Franklin, Texas area for the launch and who knows where else in SE TX for recovery of the package. If all goes well Mark hopes to launch into the eye of a hurricane later this season. To follow our progress on livestream and to learn more about the project, go to HurricaneTrack.com during the day Friday. Launch is tentatively scheduled for sometime around 1 pm.

Re: Hurr-B project with HurricaneTrack.com
We had a HUGELY SUCCESSFUL launch and recovery today with the Hurr-B project balloon launch. Mark Sudduth, Greg Nordstrom, and Kelly Mallory with Hurricanetrack.com and myself as well as Ray Field of WildHorseFoundation.org launched the balloon around 3:30 pm from Ray's airfield near Franklin, TX. Much thanks to Ray for providing the venue for launch as it was perfect. We recovered the intact payload, which included for cameras, about 4 hours later about thirty miles N of the launch site with everything intact. Hopefully I will be able to upload some pics later today. Mark will also be writing about this at HurricaneTrack.com as well as uploading pics and video in the next few days.
However he and Greg are leaving Houston tomorrow morning to go and intercept STS Beryl if it comes into N FL.
It was quite an honor to me to be included in the crew for the first successful trial of this project and its concepts which when fully utilized could help immensely with the understanding of Hurricanes eyes and all the forces at work there. Thanks Mark!!
