TWC's Hurricane Hunter series.

#1 Postby OuterBanker » Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:13 pm

Not really sure how long it has benn running, but tonight I ran into their hurricane hunter series. So far it includes two 30 min shows. A mission to locate Irenes center and a invest run into Nate. Both pretty well done I think. Mets opinion welcomed on accuracy.

Off to a good start, they refused to pre-empt it for the derecho.

Personally, I agree with TWC on this one. The derecho was 400 miles wide and we knew it was coming for hours. This was a local news station coverage thing. It did not have tornadoes, and it was well warned on at the local level. Although I had to leave at 8:45, TWC did break in on the 8's with coverage twice, which I deem as sufficient.

Yeah, I watched this last night as well. Finally, a series on TWC that is actually worth investing time to watch for a change.

I fully agree with this point. I was actually mad I had to leave early and had to miss the last half of the second episode. Up there with storm chasers and deadliest catch in content in my opinion. It offers a very rare view at something for those even in the field. I learned a few things for the show, something I cannot say for the <expletive> Storm Stories series. lol

Last night was the first and second shows of the season I think. I agree with you Jonathan, something new and refreshing that I can learn something from(which I did).

I forgot that it was on! All last week, I kept telling myself, I need to watch this series. Is it going to be rerun anytime soon?

Both episodes had a few facepalm moments, but nothing so bad that I can even specifically remember them today.

I don't know it for a fact, but considering it is TWC my answer would be a resounding YES.

Just finished watching tonight's two episodes on Jova and Irene. Fascinating getting an eyewitness account into each of those missions. The penetration into Jova's eyewall with the hail hitting the plane was very interesting to watch and to see the plane's warning alert system being triggered during Irene's eyewall penetration. That was very unnerving to witness, which definitely highlights the dangers of these missions for sure. There was a real nice shot of Irene's eye during that particular episode as well.

This is an excellent series, one of the best TWC has had for sure. Too bad it is only for 6 full epsiodes from what I saw and read.

I also happen to catch this the other night...more stuff like this less stuff like iron man. Anytime you can do a show like "Hurricane Hunters" and give a behind the scenes look at things, I think it will certainly help ratings.
