Peak intensity 45 kt.

I'd have gone up a bit more - to 50 kt - based on the ASCAT pass description, since that instrument has a low bias (so it was probably 45 kt at that time) combined with the fact it was better on satellite earlier.

I noticed an error in the TCR. It says the minimum pressure is 1002 but on the graphic, it's 999.

I suspect that some Atlantic hurricanes could be upgraded to major like Gordon, Sandy, and possibly Kirk.

They now say the mid-level circulation from Ernesto formed into Hector.

Michael is only the fifth major hurricane in the satellite era to develop from a disturbance of non-tropical origin

Interesting... :D

The color scheme used on the first sheet:

Green - depressions (none in 2012)
Blue - storms
Red - hurricanes
Fuchsia - major hurricanes

The only one comparable was 1991's Claudette, the other three all happened near land.

I'm guessing Sandy will be last, due to the uncertainty of status and data necessary. I wouldn't be shocked if it is spring before that one comes out.

I'm a bit surprised the NHC went up that far. I was only expecting 80 kt for Ernesto, thinking they would be a bit conservative despite that pressure report from Josh Morgerman (which we knew of all along). There was no wind data supporting Cat 2, but they did an extra Dvorak and got T5.0. Without him, most likely Ernesto would have only been a Cat 1 at landfall officially, based on the 979mb reading on the Banco Chinchorro Islands.

We knew the pressure was quite a bit lower and 973mb seemed about right.

Down from 50kts. The NHC on facebook said Sandy will come out around March.

Got a question: How do you know when a report came out so quickly?

Not much data to add and fairly straight-forward in the quick ones. Extensive data and uncertain statuses make TCR's slower.
