Compare Tropical Storm Allison to T.S. Grace

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Sat Aug 30, 2003 3:37 pm

Let's compare Tropical Storm Allison to Tropical Storm Grace ...
Eerily similar, isn't it ... Grace, however, should not be a slow mover and could actually be a beneficial storm.

Flood Watch just issued (as if we didn't know.lol) The similarities are phenomenal. I wasn't in Houston for Allison, but I've seen pictures and heard stories and don't wish that on anyone. Hopefully Grace drops beneficial rains and then leaves.

Allison was my first experience with tropical weather, and needless to say she left quite an impression :? We sure don't need anything that severe - unless you like boating down 59 :o Lets just hope something lights a fire under Grace - a visit is one thing, but I don't want her moving in

Just keep moving, Grace

Allison was a textbook illustration that showed you don't need a major hurricane to wreak a world of hurt. All it takes is one storm like Allison with heavy rains and that slows down over one area.

Let's hope and pray that this Grace just moves onshore real soon and keeps on trucking along and dissipates. There's no need for her to reach hurricane strength. Believe me, a tropical storm is more than enough. Let's keep this gig short and sweet.

Grace

#11 Postby Txslady » Sat Aug 30, 2003 7:30 pm

You are not covering everything that happened with Allison.

Allison moved over shore on Tuesday as a tropical storm. She did drop some rain but nothing major.

On Friday a cold front moved into north Texas and pushed her backwards. That is when she stalled and dropped 36 inches of rain in my area within 12 hours.

So it's not so much that Grace will move over us as it is the front that she will encounter in North Texas that may push be back over us.

However, the same scenario is a possibility.
