The way Mother Nature has been of late, heck, we have seen tropical cyclones develop in May, which I can attest to last year experiencing Beryl here.

Could we see another early start to the season?

Time flys so fast that we are now only a month away from the official start of the Nortrh Atlantic season. And on May 15 it starts in the EPAC. Are you ready to start to track them? But the most important thing is to be prepared for the worse case scenario and hope for the best.

I think it's looking like a slow start this season. With any luck, we'll make it to late July before the first storm. Watch out after then, though.

Very slow to break out of a winter pattern across the U.S. Quite strong wind shear for the next week or two from the Gulf through the Caribbean and out into the Tropical Atlantic. One decent analog year is 2004, when the first storm formed July 31st. Of course, one could argue the continued cold fronts moving off the East Coast could lead to an early season storm (per Alberto/Beryl last year) off the SE U.S. Coast. Except for that possibility, the season may get off to a more normal (later) start.

:uarrow: Last year the Atlantic already had a tropical storm and several invests by this date. This year I don't think its had any invests. I agree with you and think the basin could definitely have a slow start this year.
