Fabian/Jimena
Jimena certainly looks more like a tropical storm, agreed there. Still could see some flooding rains, high waves, dangerous rip currents, and some gusty winds on the big island. But we can breathe a sigh of relief that it's not any stronger than it could be!!! South winds aloft and somewhat cooler water combined probably just increased the weakening trend!! While max winds are 80 mph with Jimena, it could weaken below hurricane strength later today, perhaps as early as the next advisory at 11 am edt 5 am hst.
Fabian looks great on satellite too. The potential does exist of another possible eyewall replacement cycle to take shape. Can't rule that out in major hurricanes like this. More later.

I don't think the more ragged appearance is due to an eyewall replacement cycle, but rather a bit of SW sheer, hence an anticipated weakining trend through 36-48 hours.
