Typhoon Pewa 2013 Questions

#1 Postby hurricanes1234 » Wed Nov 13, 2013 9:52 pm

Here are some questions I am curious to know others' opinions on, regarding Typhoon Pewa earlier this year:

1. When did Typhoon Pewa peak? For about three frames, it had a small but well-defined eye, which makes its peak a bit uncertain.

2. What do you think Pewa peaked at? I know the JTWC said it peaked as a minimal typhoon (75 mph) but I'd say based on its appearance, around 85-100 mph. What are your thoughts?

3. What was Pewa's lowest pressure?

4. Did it set a record for one of the smallest tropical cyclones ever observed? Just before crossing the Dateline, it had a tiny wind field.

Thanks.

1. Seemed to peak around August 19th 0300Z.

2. In my opinion, somewhere in the category 2 range. It was a small storm so who knows.

3. 990

4. Most likely not.
